There are many women who have made the decision to work from home, whether to keep their children out of daycare, or to be a presence and support for their family, or simply because they prefer the environment of their own home as a workplace over the environment of their job. You may be one of these women, and perhaps you are even an Internet marketer, or someone who has found another source of income on the Internet. Consider this: the majority of financial transactions on the Internet are still product-based. In other words, most of what’s sold on the Internet is still products, and not services. So, the question you need to ask yourself is, are you selling products as part of your portfolio mix?

You have already made the decision that you do not want to work for someone else and make him rich. You have already decided to work from your own home, and be your own boss. You have even gone as far to discover the potential of Internet marketing, and you may even be offering electronic goods and services. However, do not overlook the power of selling physical, tangible products—things you can feel and touch. Selling products is still a tested and proven method of creating a reliable stream of income. And now, with the presence of the Internet, and the fact that more and more purchases are being made online, selling your goods on the Internet is a possibility that you must consider.

So, if selling products is going to be a part of your portfolio mix, there are two options. You can either create your own product, or sell products that have already been manufactured or created. The best option is to sell a pre-existing product that someone else has already made. There are considerable drawbacks in selling your own products. Your income relies wholly on your ability to conceive the product, purchase the raw materials, create the actual product, and then sell it. If you or your family members are sick, if you are extremely busy, if you are on vacation, or for what ever reason unable to put the labor into your product, you can not make a sale, and you have no income. However, by selling an already manufactured product, you can eliminate most of these challenges, and spend your available time on selling your products, as opposed to selling and making them.

By selling a pre-existing product, it is easiest to sell products as part of a multi-level marketing organization (MLM). Some MLMs get a bad rap, and rightfully so; they are scams. However, many MLMs are solid, reputable organizations, particularly those which have been in business for some time and have brand name recognition. The advantage of selling products from an MLM over choosing a random product(s) and selling it is that your move to the selling arena is simplified—you are selling a product that people know and recognize, and you have the resources of the organization at your disposal to assist you in selling and marketing your product, just to name a few. Some provide incredible support; you will want one of those. You will be grateful for these advantages when you venture out into the marketplace to sell your product.

Before you turn your nose up at the prospect of selling products as part of an MLM, remember that there are numerous individuals who have made good money—6 or 7 figure annual incomes—in these organizations. Read about the benefits of this type of venture so you can make an educated decision about the possibility of entering into this type of venture. MLMs draw people from all walks of life—doctors, doctor’s wives, fast food employees, MBAs, high school dropouts, twenty-somethings, fifty-somethings—you name it. Whatever your background, you can find success with an MLM. And, whatever your financial goal, an MLM is a good way to help you reach it.
